OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY
Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery and Prayer Garden is located in Georgetown, Texas. From inception, a goal was established to ensure that all monuments be decorative and mostly vertical in nature. As part of the project planning, design guidelines were established to inform future development. Ms. Kincannon also designed stock family memorials, as well as several site features. Our stonecarving studio created several custom-designed memorials, and a few are displayed here and in the Stoneworks, Funerary Arts section of this website.
Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery is also credited as the first xeriscaped, perpetual care cemetery in the United States and is located in Central Texas on twenty acres of pictureque land overlooking the San Gabriel River Valley. Another important planning principle was to create a setting that would function as a place for picnics or other rituals tied to a spiritual calender. The cemetery’s park-like setting includes a seasonal waterfall, a natural spring-fed pond and trails designed to lead one to a prayer grotto. A hillside chapel is planned for a future phase on the Eastern portion of the site, and will overlook the fields of native flowers and monuments.
