GIFTSHOP

Designed as the Cathedral’s “little jewel box,” the gift shop was intended to break the long, flat plane of the school building elevation on 10th Street. The custom-designed storefront is a powder-coated, steel frame with deep sectional qualities that take their cue from modern and gothic detailing. The stone surround was added and draws its inspiration from existing stone moulding details at the Bishop Hall entry. In addition to providing space for the gift shop merchandise, the glass storefront was designed to “pop” from the stone surface and display an iconic relic recently discovered in the basement of the Rectory.

Along with providing full project design services, Kincannon Studios provided the cut-stone masonry, as well as conservation services by carefully cleaning the metal figure and carving a base for its installation. Several details of the original plan are still pending including the two large medieval style flag poles, large decorative donor pavers, and shop signage that is to be installed on the vertical stone embedded within the steel frame.
