BUTLER

This memorial bench was commissioned by the University of Texas at Austin in honor of the late Professor Kent Butler.  The bench is located in the courtyard of the Architecture School which is a cherished place for faculty and students including Ms. Kincannon when she was an undergraduate. Working closely with the Butler family, Holly looked to Professor Butler’s environmental planning career, as well as his passion for nature to provide a conceptual direction. The fluid form that evolved attempts to express Prof. Butler’s love of water and aquatic life. Also important to the design, is it’s compatibility with another memorial designed by Mr. Kincannon within the courtyard only a few months prior.  Joseph’s design for Ms. Barnett may also be viewed in the Funerary Arts of this website.
